This course is designed for those who require training that conforms to the recommendations of the Australian Resuscitation Council and provides the knowledge and skills to provide advanced first aid response, life support and management of the casualty, the incident and other first aiders until the arrival of medical assistance.

NEW COURSE DELIVERY METHOD
Online Training with Face to Face Practical Assessment
Study conveniently and safety online and attend a short practical assessment.
Small groups of 1-4 students.
Self paced online learning with a scheduled 1-hour face to face practical assessment.

Course Duration (face to face)
- Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
- Blended delivery – 6 hours (minimum) – with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning
- Refresher training – 6 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.

Payment Terms – Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and service provider.
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
What happens at the course?
Physical demonstrations (skills)
Simulated assessment environments must reflect the real-life working environment where these skills and knowledge would be performed, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment. Skills must be demonstrated working individually in an environment that provides realistic in-depth, industry-validated scenarios and simulations to assess students’ skills and knowledge.
It’s important that students have knowledge of the content of this course. The assessable practical tasks are listed below, showing what skills will be assessed.
You will be assessed on your demonstrations of:
Adult CPR: Responded to a first aid scenario and performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor;
Infant CPR: Responded to a first aid scenario and performed at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface;
Defibrillation: Followed the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Manage Infection control requirements
- Followed the prompts of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Demonstrated safe manual handling techniques and
- Provide a verbal report of the incident
Applied first aid procedures
- Allergic reaction
- Bleeding control
- Choking and airway obstruction
- Conducted a basic triage for multiple casualty incident
- Envenomation (using pressure immobilisation)
- Fractures, sprains and strains (using arm slings, roller bandages or other appropriate immobilisation principles)
- Head, neck and spinal injuries (using immobilisation principles)
- Respiratory distress – including asthma
- Located and interpreted workplace policies and procedures

What is a USI?
USI (Unique Student Identification)
This is a new Government requirement. Your Unique Student Identifier (USI) will contain all your nationally recognised training records and results from January 1 2015 onwards. Applying for your own USI number is relatively easy to complete.

Can I change the date once I've booked?
Yes. Look at the calendar and see what course you would like to change to, then send us an email using the contact form and we will send you a new invitation for the new date.
There is no additional cost to make this change this change.
What if I don't see a date for the course I want to book?
If you'd like to attend a course, but there is no date scheduled you should contact us using the contact form and let us know which course interests you. Often we have had other enquiries about the same course and are able to schedule a date that suits.
